Aluminium foam is produced from 6101 Aluminium alloy, retaining 99% purity of the parent alloy. It has a reticulated structure; the cells are open and have a duodecahedral shape. The unique mechanical properties of Aluminium foam are high surface area to volume, high strength to weight ratio and a completely isotropic load response. The foam has many of the properties of the alloy, such as corosion resistance, srength, electrical and thermal conductivity, but at a fraction of the weight.
