D-(+)-Melezitose can be used to identify indole-positive and indole-negative Klebsiella clinical isolates.

A total of 102 (84%) of 122 isolates were negative for indole production, unable to absorb histamine and d-galactose, and unable to grow at 10 ° C. All 102 isolates were identified as possible Klebsiella pneumoniae / K. chicken pox. Finally, an isolate (1%) was produced for indole, positive for histamine assimilation and growth at 10 ° C, and negative for ornithine and d-trisaccharide. The isolate was identified as a possible R. planticola.
