AI 3-19500 (Cyanine; AI-3-19500; Al3-19500) is a dye used especially to sensitize photographic film to light from the green, yellow, red, and infrared regions of the spectrum. It also referred to as tetramethylindo(di)-carbocyanines are a synthetic dye family belonging to the polymethine group. Although the name derives etymologically from terms for shades of blue, the cyanine family covers the electromagnetic spectrum from near IR to UV.
