Background:
Sauvagine is a neuropeptide hormone that has been found in frog (P. sauvagei) skin and member of the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) family, which includes mammalian CRF , urocortin , urocortin II , urocortin III , and piscine urotensin 1.1,2In vivo, sauvagine (0.5 µg/kg, s.c.) reduces systemic blood pressure in normotensive rats.2It inhibits anterior pituitary release of prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and growth hormone in rats. Sauvagine also increases plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) levels in rats.3
