Background:
N-desmethyl Sertraline is a metabolite of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline .1It is formed from sertraline primarily by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP2B6 and to a lesser extent by CYP2C19, -2C9, -2D6, and -3A in human liver microsomes. N-desmethyl Sertraline has been found in wastewater effluent.2
