Prostaglandin F1α-d9(PGF1α.-d9) contains nine deuterium atoms at the 17, 17', 18, 18', 19, 19', 20, 20, and 20 positions. It is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of PGF1αby GC-or LC-mass spectrometry. PGF1αis the putative metabolite of dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (DGLA)viathe cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway. Both PGF1αand PGF2αhave been shown to act as priming pheromones for male Atlantic salmon with a threshold concentration of 10-11 M.1PGF1αbinds to the ovine corpus luteum FP receptor at only 8% of the relative potency of PGF2α.2It is only half as active as PGF2αin inducing human respiratory smooth muscle contractionsin vitro.3
