Background:

Clonostachydiol is a fungal metabolite originally isolated fromClonostachys cylindrosporathat has anticancer and anthelmintic activities.^1,2It is cytotoxic to P388 (IC₅₀= 25 µM), as well as L1210, HT-29, and A549 cancer cells (IC₅₀s = 4.5, 4.2, and 5.7 µg/ml, respectively). Clonostachydiol (2.5 mg/kg, s.c.) reduces fecal worm burden by 80 to 90% in lambs infected with the nematodeH. contortus.¹
