Sarmustine, formerly known as SarCNU, is an alkylating agent potentially for the treatment of recurrent malignant glioma. SarCNU inhibits prostate carcinoma cell growth via p53-dependent and p53-independent pathways. SarCNU mediates selection of P140K methylguanine-DNA-methyltransferase transduced human CD34(+) cells in vitro.
