Camsirubicin (MNPR201; CNDO1011; GPX150), a
doxorubicin analogue, is a chemically modified version of
doxorubicin (an anthracycline antibiotic widely used as a
anti-cancer drug). Like doxorubicin, Camsirubicin acts as a topoisomerase II inhibitor by intercalating DNA and impeding the
activity of topoisomerase II, thus inducing single and double-stranded
breaks in DNA and inhibiting DNA
replication.
