Camsirubicin HCl (CNDO-1011; MNPR-201; GPX-150), the hydrochloride salt of Camsirubicin which is a doxorubicin analogue, is a novel and chemically modified version of doxorubicin, which is an anthracycline antibiotic widely used as a anti-cancer drug. Similar to doxorubicin which is a topoisomerase II inhibitor, Camsirubicin acts by intercalating DNA and impeding the activity of topoisomerase II, thus inducing single and double-stranded breaks in DNA and inhibiting DNA replication.
