Elsinochrome A is a perylenequinone fungal metabolite that has been found inHypomycesand has anticancer activity.1Photoactivation of elsinochrome A induces the production of singlet oxygen and apoptosis in R366.4 rhesus monkey embryonic stem cells and HCe-8693 colorectal carcinoma cells when used at concentrations ranging from 1 to 100 µM.
