Carmustine is a nitrogen mustard β-chloro-nitrosourea compound that is used as an antitumor chemotherapeutic agent[1].
In rat glial tumor cytosol and intact cells, carmustine (8, 80, and 800 μM) reduces N-acetyltransferase activities for 2-aminofluorene and p-aminobenzoic acid. In rat glioma cells, carmustine reduces the formation of DNA-AF adducts[1].
Intraperitoneal administration of carmustine 25 mg/kg in rat, which increases liver-to-weight ratio, significantly reduces bile flow, and decreases GSSG and GSH/GSSG values, and mild fibrous edema and monocyte infiltration in the liver of rats[2].
