Interleukin-7 (IL-7) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor produced by bone marrow and thymic stromal cells, spleen cells and keratinocytes. IL7 stimulates the proliferation of Pre-B, Pro-B and early T cells. IL-7 can co-stimulate the proliferation of mature T cells in combination with other factors such as ConA and IL-2. Also, IL-7 stimulates the maturation of megakaryocytes and the proliferation and differentiation of NK cells.
The murine IL-7 cDNA encodes a 154 aa protein with a 25 aa signal sequence. Human and murine IL-7 is cross-species reactive. Recombinant murine IL-7 is a 15.0 kDa protein containing 130 amino acid residues.
Determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of murine 2E8 cells. | ||||||
