核纤层蛋白是V型中间丝,根据在细胞周期中的同源性序列、生物化学性质和细胞定位,可将其分为A型或B型,A型包括核纤层蛋白A和C,B型包括核纤层蛋白B1和B2。核纤层蛋白片段几乎涵盖了所有的α螺旋构象,由非α螺旋连接子分隔成多个α螺旋结构域,这些α螺旋结构域的氨基酸序列和长度高度保守。
核纤层蛋白是中间丝型的蛋白质,是核纤层的主要组成部分,核纤层是内核膜底层纤维状蛋白网络。核纤层蛋白也可以以弥漫性或斑点模式定位在细胞核内,在DNA复制、染色质组织、核孔复合体的空间排列、核生长以及核膜蛋白的锚固中发挥作用。
